This trek has obvious appeal, with it’s route taking trekkers to the base camp of the world’s tallest mountain. With...
At 8167m, Dhaulagiri is the 7th highest peak in the world. It towers majestically over the Kali Gandaki river, and together with Annapurna I, on the other side of the valley, creates the world’s deepest gorge. Dhaulagiri round is a challenging trek which winds through alpine pastures, surrounded at various points by more than 15 peaks of 7000m and above. It is a land of dramatic contrast. This trek starts from Bahichaur, proceeding to the North-west passing through the Magar settlement of Muri before following the glaciers above. At it’s highest point the trail crosses French Pass (5370m) and Dhampus Pass (5280m) before descending into the beautiful ‘Hidden Valley’. The trek ends at the village of Marpha, with a chance to experience the Thakali ethnic culture there. Here is the heart of the ‘apple kingdom’ of Nepal. Because of the altitude and rugged terrain, Dhaulagiree trek is suited only to individuals with a high level of fitness. The land is more remote and the hiking more demanding than in many other trekking areas in Nepal and it is therefore recommended for the more adventurous trekker with previous trekking experience. As with all our treks, we can be flexible with the itinerary and can adjust many details according to your time, availability and special interests.
