Langtang Gosaikunda cross trek is a fantastic choice for those wishing to stay a little closer to Kathmandu. The week long trek offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the culture of the Tamang people, a society heavily influenced by Tibetan culture from the north. Langtang village itself was one of the worst hit places by the Earthquake on 25th April 2015. 308 people were killed and the village was completely destroyed. Further hundreds of thousands of people in the Langtang Valley and the wider region became homeless. The rebuilding of the area is happening but at a very slow pace. Your trekking in this area would be of huge benefit to the recovering community.
This trek is recommended for people with average to good fitness. With the highest point at a moderately high altitude, the walking itself is fairly straightforward. As of spring 2016, we suggest that those wishing to undertake this route should be of a relatively open mind with regards to facilities available after a natural disaster. That said, we do not offer any trek which we have not first scouted for reasonable accommodation options and that we deem safe. Past participants have commented on the positive elements of experiencing the Himalayas with fewer tourists on the route!
As with all our treks including Langtang Gosaikunda Cross trek, we can be flexible with the itinerary and can adjust many details according to your time, availability and special interests.
