Tsum Valley Trek

Tsum valley lies on the route of a sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley in northern Gorkha district. The Tibetan Buddist influence in the valley is strong and offers a quite different experience to many other areas of Nepal. Tsum comes from the Tibetan word “Tsombo” which means vivid. This holy hidden place is the valley of happiness first described by Guru Rimpoche (Padmashamvaba) in the eight century.

This part of the inner Himalaya is extremely rich in cultural assets, Buddhist monasteries, ancient walls and. The Tibetan style hospitality and life style welcomes you with traditional Tibetan Chiya (butter tea) and a local meal. The people in this valley never kill animals, even as sacrifice to the gods. The valley is surrounded by Buddha himal and Himal chuli to the west, Ganesh himal to the south and Sringi Himal to the north.

The trail heads up the valley of the Budi Gandaki River through wild and unexplored country inhabited mainly by members of the Gurung ethnic community, from Arughat, Machhakhola Jagat and Philim.

This trek is suited to people with a high level of fitness and a keen interest in remote adventure.
