Towering to 6,654m, Mera Peak is the highest trekking peak in Nepal. It stands to the south of Mount Everest and dominates the watershed between the heavily wooded valleys of the Hinku and Hongu Drankas. The view from the summit is one of the finest in the Himalaya with five 8000m peaks visible: Everest, Lhotse, Cho oyu, Makalu and Kanchenjunga. Mera peak trekking and Climbing trail starts by walking east from Lukla, working it’s way through the area of Barun National Park. Here, we trek through the terrace landscape of the eastern remote Nepalese foothills, passing blue pine, rhododendron and small Sherpa villages to reach Mera base camp. After summitting Mera the trek offers the option of returning on the same trail back or by a different route, depending on your available time. Mera peak has an alpine difficulty grade. It is suited to aspirational climbers or to highly experienced trekkers with a high level of fitness. It is a physically demanding ‘snow trek’ with straight forward climbing.
As with all our treks including Mera peak trekking and Climbing, we can be flexible with the itinerary and can adjust many details according to your time, availability and special interests.
